TEACHER TRAININGS:

Teaching Yoga to Seniors. Carol is co-director of DUKE INTEGRATIVE MEDICINE'S Yoga Therapy Intensive, "Teaching Yoga to Seniors," which offers Yoga teachers a unique opportunity to earn a certificate of completion in Therapeutic Yoga for Seniors. The next training will be held April 15 to 22, 2009.

Seniors age 65 and older represent the fastest-growing sector of the U.S. population and--like many Americans--are increasingly drawn to yoga. Yet there are few places yoga teachers can learn practical strategies for adapting the practice to older bodies, minds and spirits. This pioneering program combines the best of modern, evidenced based medicine with the ancient wisdom, experience and tradition of Yogic teachings.

LECTURES AND PROGRAMS:

Carol's talks and workshops are designed to help people bring healing movement into their lives. She will tailor a program to meet your needs, such as lunchtime seminars at the workplace, evening or weekend classes at schools or community centers and keynote presentations for conferences and meetings.

Simple Strategies to Activate Your Life. Know you should exercise but can’t find the time to “just do it?” Try these easy ways to add movement into your daily life, without having to change your clothes or go to the gym.

Movement as Medicine. Learn how physical activity helps prevent, relieve and sometimes even cure a wide range of ailments, including heart disease, some cancers, osteoporosis, hypertension, depression, back pain and even sexual dysfunction.

Yoga to Go. Yoga on the mat can be healing, but the practice becomes even more powerful when you incorporate its principles into daily life.

Healing Moves for Neck and Back Pain: Most of us spend our days hunched over computers, desks and steering wheels, and the result can be a pain in the neck--and back. Learn simple, practical "healing moves" to relieve pain and strategies to become pain free.
